Chrome delete is the fastest way to modernise a car without touching its paint. Chrome trim and chrome wheels date a vehicle more than almost anything else, and blacking them out is reversible when it is done the right way.
What gets deleted
- Window surrounds and beltline trim — the single biggest visual change on most sedans and SUVs.
- Grille surrounds and slats
- Badges and lettering — blacked out, or removed entirely
- Mirror caps, door handles, roof rails
- Exhaust tips and lower trim
- Wheel lips and chrome-faced wheels — see powder coating
Wrap or coat?
It depends on the part, and anyone who offers only one method is fitting your car to their process:
- Vinyl wrap — for trim that is awkward to remove, or when you want it fully reversible. Good for window surrounds and mirror caps. Removable later without damaging what is underneath.
- Coating — for parts that come off the car cleanly, like badges, grille pieces and exhaust tips. More durable, and permanent.
Finish options
Gloss black is the default and looks factory on most cars. Satin black is softer and hides dust and fine scratches better. Colour-matching to the body is an option on trim, and works particularly well on white and silver cars where full black can look heavy.
Done properly, chrome delete should look like the car left the factory that way. Done badly, it looks like tape.
Booked alongside
Most chrome delete jobs come in with caliper paint or a wheel finish change — the three together are what actually transform a car's stance and presence.
Common questions
Is chrome delete permanent?
It depends on the method. Vinyl wrap is fully reversible and can be removed later without damaging the trim underneath. Coating a removed part is permanent. We pick per part and tell you which is which.
How long does chrome delete take?
Most cars are one to two days depending on how many pieces are involved and whether parts have to come off the vehicle. We will scope it when we see the car.
Will it damage my paint or trim?
No, when done correctly. Wrap is applied to the trim itself and removes cleanly; coated parts are taken off the car, prepared and refitted.
